Quick Install Guide

SceneSearch can be installed on a system with the following

 

Operating Systems

 

Windows 98

Windows ME

Windows 2000

Windows XP

Windows NT

 

Approximately 100 megabyte of free hard drive space to accommodate Access 2002 runtime.  If your system has Access 2002 already installed on the system the runtime will not be installed during the installation process.

 

Hardware Requirements

Pentium III class or higher

64 Megabyte of RAM, 128 MB of RAM is recommended for use in Windows 98/ME.  256 MB of RAM is recommended for systems running Windows 2000/XP/NT.

Screen Resolution

 

SceneSearch is best viewed with screen resolutions of 800 X 600.  It can be used with higher or lower resolutions however users may experience loss of form view.  To avoid this issue set your screen resolution to 800 X 600,

Follow these step-by-step directions to install SceneSearch on your system.  Should you experience difficulty in the installation process contact our technical support team.

 

 

Package Contents

 

If you received this through shipping the contents of the package should include the following:

 

  1. SceneSearch installation CD-Rom.
  2. Quick Start Guide

 

CD-Rom Contents

 

The CD-Rom contains the following files, which will be installed on your system:

 

  1. SceneSearch

2.      Microsoft Access Runtime (Runtime may or may not be installed in your system depending on your systems configuration).

  1. Mdac_2.7
  2. SceneSearch Data files
  3. SceneSearch image files
  4. SceneSearch help files
  5. Readme Installation Notes

 

Download Version

 

Extract SceneSearch.exe by double clicking on the file.  Double click the setup.exe and installation will begin.

 


 

Installation of SceneSearch

Registration Process

1. Place the SceneSearch Installation CD into your CD-Rom drive.

 

2 .The setup files should run automatically.  If it does not, locate your CD-Rom drive in my computer and double click on setup.exe.

 

In either case the installation program will run.   The program will install initial files required for the setup process.

 

3. If you do not have Microsoft Access 2002 you the setup program will automatically install the runtime version on your system.

 

Microsoft Access Runtime will be installed on your system and you may be prompted to restart your system. 

 

4. When your system restarts the installation program will begin again and install the remaining files.  If your system does not begin the installation program access your CD-Rom drive in my computer and double click on Setup.exe.

 

5. Once complete the installation program will display a message indicating that the installation process is completed.

 

6. SceneSearch installation program will create a program group called SceneSearch.  It will also create a sub folder called Narratives.  This is where SceneSearch will place any narrative you create.

 

The setup of SceneSearch is now complete.  The next step is to register Scene Search, and then customize the Agency Information, Officer Information, and Court Information databases.

 

Note: All SceneSearch installation disks ship with as a demo.  This is a full version of SceneSearch and once registered removes any reference to DEMO. 

1. Launch SceneSearch by double clicking the icon on the desktop or in the programs menu under SceneSearch.

 

2. The SceneSearch will load and the title page will be displayed.

 

3. After the title page disappears from view you will be presented with the registration and Demo Notice Screen.

 

4. From this screen click on the button titled Register SceneSearch. 

 

5. You will be presented with the Key Code Entry Screen.  Enter the key code, which can be found, on the back of your CD-Rom cover.  You should make a note of this code in the event that you need to re-load SceneSearch you will need to re-enter the code.  Enter the code in this screen then click register. 

 

6. You will be prompted to enter your agencies name.  Enter it exactly as it should appear on Forms and Reports.

 

7. After completing this phase you have completed the registration process.

 

SceneSearch Setup

To access information regarding the setup and use of SceneSearch select help from the file menu.

 

Then select SceneSearch help.  A complete help file will be displayed.  It is recommended that you review agency information & data, customizing drop lists and entering and editing a search.
